SS16 Fashion with inTU Victoria Centre Nottingham*

It’s that time of year again, when the sun comes out and the flowers begin to bloom. When we trade in the confinement of our duvets for a glass of the good stuff in a beer garden. But, with great summer comes great style and I’m here to tell you what this season has in store for us on the clothing front.  Myself and a few other local bloggers (I shall leave their links below) all met at the infamous Emmett Clock on the 2nd floor in the Victoria Centre for a run down of the day.  We would be treated to front row seats of 5 of the fashion shows, a VIP tour of the new Sostrene Grene store and cocktails at Thaikhun. We were handed a cute (and very pink) goodie bag from the organisers and headed back downstairs to take our seats before the first show began.  First of all, the set up was quite different to last year (you can read about that here), with an enclosed box covered in flowers, housing well dressed mannequins looming within the concaves on each side. A large screen giving onlookers information about the shows and logo’s of the brands that would be showcasing their wares.  We were treated first to the new range for the warmer months by Trespass. Not a shop I ever think of to go for clothing, I always saw it as a sporty / outdoorsy […]

Switch It Up For SS16 | Easy ways to change your look…*

*contributed post Are you feeling a little bored with your look? Maybe you’ve been dressing, styling your hair and doing your makeup the same for years? Or maybe you’re just tired of how you look? If you’re feeling bored, then do something about it. Life is all about changes, so don’t be afraid to change up your look.Of course, you don’t want to be constantly editing your style, but every once in a while it’s good to mix things up. It’s far too easy to get stuck in a rut when it comes to your look. The problem is, that once we’ve found a look that we feel comfortable with, often we’re too scared of looking silly to change it. However, we shouldn’t be, as change is good. Photo source From one style and beauty lover to another, I thought I would share my favourite tips for mixing things up and changing your look. Start with your hair Image credit The easiest way to switch up your look is with your hair. This is because this is one of our most noticeable features, which means it’ll be more obvious that you’ve changed something. Now, there are lots of options for changing your hair, so it’s worth taking your time to consider them all. The most popular ways to change your hair include cutting it and dying it, but these aren’t your only options. Going from blonde to brunette could be […]

From Day to Night, A Dainty Delight | OneByOne Jewels*

I’ve never been too fond of wearing jewellery, I’ve always found earrings, bracelets and necklaces quite irritating and they always give me a feeling of anxiety that I might lose them or get caught on something. On a daily basis I wear my DKNY watch and my Fitbit, that’s it. Until now. When London based jewellery company, OneByOne, got in touch with me, I took a look at their website and instantly fell in love with some of their rose gold pieces (of course!) and they very kindly sent me an item to review. I was in awe at some of the earrings which is unusual for me, the Spike in particular, and those beautiful bracelets made my eyes pop. I received my ‘surprise‘ parcel and was pleasantly surprised about the packaging and branding. As delicate as their jewellery and just as pretty. A cute silver gift bag, my honest opinion would be to opt for a matte one next time as the gloss makes it look a little on the cheaper side, inside a gorgeous little gift box, wrapped in branded tissue paper and sealed with a silver sticker unlocking the ribboned detail beneath it.    Inside, the most dainty and delicate rose gold curve necklace I have ever seen. It’s so pretty and I love it already, I couldn’t wait to put it on and see how it looked. It’s so light I can barely feel it and so modest […]

AW15 Fashion | intu Victoria Centre, Nottingham

On Friday 2nd October, intu Victoria Centre held a special event which I was invited to as a VIB (Very Important Blogger) along with Life In The Fashion Lanee to blog about the upcoming fashion trends for AW15. It gave brands such as Superdry, Next, John Lewis and House of Fraser a chance to showcase what they have in store for us this season – literally!     We were given a gorgeous tote bag designed specifically for intu by Celia Birtwell, which has since become my new gym bag and recieved a lot of compliments, it contained a bottle of water (certainly needed, I was working up a sweat trying to keep up with the models and the mirrors!), some gorgeous Thorntons honeycomb chocolate and a selfie stick! The perfect companion for a blogger.  Treated to front row seats with a clear view of the catwalk and the models, this provided us with a brilliant opportunity to take captivating shots of them wearing what’s on trend for this season, a combination of jewel tones, monochrome complimented with camel colours and printed fabrics oozing opulence.     Up first, Superdry, showing off their colourful collection. A lot of denim, khaki and checkered patterns manoeuvred around the stage with sheer coolness. There is certainly something to suit everyone within the new range from an edgy black leather jacket and red tartan skirt to a light blue skinny jean and grey jumper ensemble completed […]

Don’t Shoe Want Me Baby? | Second Chance Shoes

Let me start by telling you that 2 years ago, I celebrated NYE in style at Hogmanay in Edinburgh which is where it all began… After trawling the internet and all the shops possible trying to find a pair of tartan heels to wear, I had no luck what so ever. I ended up buying a cute collared tartan dress from Ark and some tan brogues from Matalan instead.  I still had my heart set on a pair of tartan heels but could not find a pair I liked for the life of me so I had the genius idea that I could somehow make them out of an old pair of black court heels and a check shirt I brought from The Salvation Army. Four hours later after cutting and sticking and trimming the edges, even I was shocked at the outcome.  Feeling proud of myself, I went to show the mr and he asked me where I brought them from. The look on his face when I told him I made them was priceless. Here is the finished product… (I handmade the bows too!)   This later then turned into 6 hours of strategically placing Swarovski crystals onto a pair of old peep toe heels I had lying around in the spare cupboard under the stairs.    So now, I have the honour and priviledge of customising my best friends alternative wedding shoes! We all know brand new plain […]
