Street Style – Mixing High Street with High End

It’s easy to fall for luxury items with a high price tag, I did with my latest designer purchase in my Vivienne Westwood handbag. I couldn’t stop thinking about it after I’d seen it so I knew, I just had to have it.

What it’s made me notice though, is that if you team a couple of high end items with a few high Street pieces, you can make your whole outfit look expensive without breaking the bank (and I had little budget left over after buying my Viv)

A wardrobe staple that everyone should own is the leather jacket. There’s a perfect style out there that will suit you, you just have to find it. I found mine in Next and for a generous price of £98, it found a home in my wardrobe and will be a timeless piece for years to come.

I’ve teamed this with a light blue denim shirt that I picked up in Primark (accidentally) for just £10. It’s lightweight with sleeves that can be rolled up to add extra texture to your outfit and a more casual vibe.

When it comes to jeans, I can’t stand spending £££’s on them when they all look the same. No one will know whether my black skinny jeans are £12 from Tesco or £40 from Zara so why bother? This particular pair fit me so well and are a really soft denim which makes them super comfortable. And £12 is a great price to pay for comfort.

The perfect way to finish this outfit off is with a fresh pair of white leather trainers – converse are my personal shoe or choice. I love the crisp, clean look of white leather converse and I think they really break up the outfit and make it stand out without adding a striking bright colour.

Everything I wear is coordinated with a handbag to match something already within my outfit so my Vivienne Westwood Opio Saffiano Tote matches perfectly against my black leather jacket and contrasts against the white leather of my trainers.

Finally, I’ve added another high end accessory to feel a little more luxurious in the form of my Monica Vinader linear stone bracelet* (RRP £195). I’ve not taken this off since I received it at the launch of their Covent Garden store. It looks expensive and I won’t lie to you, I love the fact that it does. The gorgeous rose gold chain looks almost like rope and the beautiful amazonite stone adds a pop of colour without being too showy.

An easy, smart, street style outfit that looks more expensive than it is.
