Know me and you will know I’m a girly girl through and through. I love anything with even a slight hint of romance and femininity so February is a month I thoroughly enjoy. Whether you celebrated Valentines, or like me Galentines, we are undeniably amidst the season of love. Pink tones are a permanent fixture in my beauty routine throughout the year, but I’ve been loving the excuse to show them off and go all out. Give me a soft rosy lip, a pop of pink to the cheek and a floral fragrance and I am one happy woman. Today I’m digging out my favourite products to add a touch of girly glam to your everyday look.
I couldn’t talk about feminine style and beauty without mentioning this – it was the first thing that sprang to mind when I decided the theme of this months post and it has been a favourite of mine for literally years. Jo Malone’s Peony and Blush Suede is the ultimate fresh, floral and feminine scent. Whenever I spitz this on I feel as though I should be strolling around the streets of a beautiful city in the throes of Spring, wearing a full bodied midi skirt and carrying the cutest Kate Spade handbag. I adore Jo Malone as a brand; their colognes are so distinguishable and unique. Plus, Peonies are my favourite flower…basic blogger alert. This is beautifully floral with delicate with top notes of juicy red apples, heart notes of soft roses, peonies and honey, and sensual base notes of suede – my perfect romantic perfume.
Rather than roll out the reds, I prefer to take a softer approach to lips. My ride or die colour for the perfect pout is Indémodable (166) from the Rouge Allure range by Chanel. It will always hold a special place in my heart because I bought it in the original Chanel Boutique on Rue Cambon, Paris. I instantly fell in love with the Rouge Allure range – the packaging is timeless, chic and sophisticated; something I relish pulling out of my make up bag to top up on the go. Then there’s the formula – beautiful to apply, with a satin finish and intense colour pay off. Indémodable (which translates to timeless in English) is a rosy, subtly warm toned fuchsia which I think would look beautiful on any skin tone. Apply one swipe for a sheer hint of colour or go in again with another few layers for a brighter hit of pink. There’s something about Chanel, whether it be a lipstick, perfume or nail polish, that never fails to make me feel effeminate and graceful. I adore it, and this is one of those lipsticks which always fetches a compliment or two.
No feminine look is complete without an understated flush to the cheeks. I am a bit of a blush fanatic at the moment, and have hoards of pretty pinks and romantic reds on rotation. Provocative Pink from Kiko is a new addition to my collection and is the ideal combination of perfectly peach and rosy pink tones. The powder is super finely milled, which aids an almost soft focus finish. It has a gorgeous buildable colour, is easy to blend and feels velvety soft on your skin. The blush is also enriched with flower petal oils, and although I can’t say I notice a massive difference because of this, it certainly appeals to the girly girl in me that teeny bit more. I’m building up quite the stash of Kiko – they’re a really affordable option but with the feel of a luxury brand, both in quality of the product and the sleek packaging.
I almost feel…dare I say it…Spring like wearing all these pinks and florals, despite the weather looking gloomy as ever outside. They just feel lighter and fresher than the heavier make up and fragrances I reach for in the Winter months. I am so ready to feel that delicate sunshine dance on my skin, to smell the peonies and wear skirts without running the risk of freezing to death!
