Find Me Where The Wild Things Are

Earlier this year, Ben and I took a trip to Andorra for a spot of skiing although, with it being nearly 7 years ago since I last even laid eyes on a set of ski’s, I felt a bit ‘all fur coat and no knickers’ when I announced we were going to friends and family. Sadly I wished I was rather ‘all the gear with no idea’ as that would have saved me a lot of money! With practically little to no time before we were due to leave, I needed kit and I needed it fast and after a brief trip for camping equipment a couple of years ago, we headed to Go Outdoors. What a saviour of a store! They really helped me out when it came to the crunch earlier this year so when I was asked if I wanted to visit the newly opened store in Arnold, Nottingham, I was more than happy oblige and also very happy that there is now one closer to home!

For those of you who haven’t heard of Go Outdoors before, it is infact a store stocking all the things you could possibly need for outdoor activities be that skiing, cycling, running, climbing, fishing, hiking, horse riding, walking, or generally letting your inner Bear Grylls free in the wild.

There is literally so much under one roof here and with enough different stock to suit all competencies so whether you are an advanced rider or just starting out, you bet you can get what you want/need here. Also, if you are fashion conscious, they have some of the cutest prints, boldest colours and ultimately unique items available too.

The range of products is so vast at Go Outdoors, I can’t imagine being told the item I am looking for isn’t in there. There were things on the shelves I never even knew existed but thankfully, the super knowledgable staff could help you from start to finish and even show you the ropes (literally when it came to the climbing stock!) on how to use your new purchases.

If like me, you are not too much of a thrill seeker or just don’t fancy abseiling down a cliff face today, perhaps they can tempt you into a bike ride instead. They had some of the prettiest bikes available along with super sleek road bikes for the avid cyclists amongst us. Go Outdoors prides itself on their award winning Bossnut bike which has won Bike of the Year recently and is perfect for both the experienced and the not so experienced too.

With a huge variety of brands from Regatta* to Freedom Trail and Berghaus to Craghoppers you are guaranteed to find something to suit you when it comes to the array of clothing available within the store. Laid out in the most perfect way so everything is easily accessible and signposted so you don’t need to traps through the whole store to find what you need. The information cards are also super handy and now display information on the material, the functionality of the garment and it’s ideal usage. So if its running gear you’re after, or perhaps even some skiing salopettes, maybe a new coat for the Mr for christmas or a cute new hat, glove and scarf set to keep the kids cosy this winter, I assure you there will be what you need right here under this roof.

Go Outdoors also bears a whole wall dedicated to footwear, different styles and brands for the different kinds of requirements such as running, walking and hiking. I even picked myself up some Nike running trainers* whilst I was there in a bid to get my fitness mojo back with thanks to my fashionable feet now.

Boasting a second floor solely dedicated to camping and all the equipment you think you could ever need for a tent or caravan, its a campers delight walking up those stairs. There are so many varieties of tents, portable toilets and trailers. I thoroughly enjoyed crawling into some of them though, I won’t lie to you. They really have though of everything thought too, right down to the finest details to make a camper feel at home away from home using little things like patterned cutlery and crockery instead of cheap, throwaway plastic ones. Boldy coloured blow up sofas and chairs (which are actually really comfy) and who knew you could get camping carpets now too?! I think they even had sleeping bags for every situation possible.

Lets not forget all the tools, travel essentials and gadgets you may or may not need for a week in the wilderness too. From appliances to multi-use tools as small as a credit card, first aid kits of all sizes to walkie talkies, GPS watches to sunglasses. Also, find things for your furry friends too with an aisle made completely for pets – even better that you can take your pets into store too! Personally, I’d love to walk in there with a load of dogs and just pet them all day.

I cannot express my excitement that there is a Go Outdoors here in my hometown now, as the seasons change, I can see myself heading over to the gym wear sections to stock up on the latest gear and always look like I at least know what I am doing! Everything is so moderately priced too and always discounted off the RRP. Plus, if you sign up for one of the Go Outdoors Discount Cards (£5) you can benefit from ever further discounts in store which are only available to their card holders. Yes – you really can get discount on your discount here not to mention special offers at your local store too.

Thank you for inviting me to the newest store, it was a pleasure to have met the staff who can I say are outstanding. Super friendly, seriously know their stuff and even better then they are experts in a particular field and cannot do enough for you. Thank you also for my goodies (separate posts to follow!) See you again soon!
