Halloween is done and dusted – time to pack away the ghostly make up until next year and get your sparkle on. With Christmas coming up (and now it’s November it’s totally acceptable to get into the festive spirit right?) and Bonfire Night within touching distance there has never been a better excuse to crack out the glitter. As the title of my blog suggests, I like to spread a bit of sparkle at any given opportunity and go all out at this time of year…sequins on my clothes, glow giving skin care, shimmery cosmetics and twinkly nails. Today I’m bringing you my top beauty picks to help you shine bright this Bonfire Night.
Let’s start with skin care because I’m all about giving you a natural glow to build on. The Million Dollar Moisturiser from Lush is a little pot of illumination that I have loved for years. I think that Lush skin care often gets over looked because let’s face it; their bath products are bloody brilliant. The Million Dollar Moisturiser is quite a heavy cream, so I reserve it for the colder months; but it does sink into the skin beautifully once applied. It smells divine – the scent of honey and shea butter hit you as soon as you take the lid off and it is incredibly hydrating. The cream contains reflective pigment, which gives you that Hollywood glow before you even reach for the highlighter. A luxurious, decadent addition to your routine that creates a beautifully radiant base for your make up.
Moving onto make up and this is where you can get seriously sparkly. From glitter lips to shimmery shadows; there’s something out there for everyone no matter how far you want to take it. I thought the one product that most people reach for when going for the glow is of course a good highlighter. This is my favourite way to add luminosity to my complexion and The Balm’s Mary-Lou Manizer is my go-to. It comes in a cute little retro compact with a stunning, finely milled powder inside. Mary-Lou is a beautiful, champagne gold that leaves you with a glistening glow for your day-to-day look, and can easily be built up into a show stopping shimmer for the evenings. I dust this over the top of my cheek bones, under my brows and down the bridge of my nose using a fan brush and into the inner corners of my eyes with a small precision eye shadow brush to make them look more awake. A gorgeous all round glow getter.
A final way to add a bit of sparkle to any outfit is nails. I have an abundance of glitter in my nail polish collection with the majority of it coming from Essie and Nails Inc. The collection I absolutely fell for when it launched last year was ‘Snow Globe’ by Nails Inc. The super fine shimmer settles at the bottom of the bottle and you shake it up just like (you guessed it) a snow globe to transform it into the perfect party polish. The glitter in this is so beautiful, and delicately sparkles when it catches the light. Although it launched at Christmas, I dust off my bottle of this as soon as November begins in aid of Bonfire Night. I like to layer this up for a gorgeously girlie look that has a gradient finish. Great with a bold colour underneath, or let the glitter make an impact on its own.
So there we have it ladies. All the glitz and glam you need to achieve some serious shimmer this Bonfire Night. I know I’ll be donning all of this (and more), accessorized with a sparkler or two around the fire. And with a little help from these beauties, you’ll be outshining those fireworks too.
