So we are halfway through another year on this beautiful planet and so far it’s been a good one.
Below are just some of my highlights of 2016 so far. I can’t believe how much it has turned around since 2015 and I am happy to see the back end of that year!
New year was brilliant. We celebrated with some friends by going for a nice meal at Carluccios followed by a drink in a strange bar before heading out to watch the fireworks at Nottingham Castle. I LOVE fireworks, they hypnotise me. Feeling really happy to be in the company of Mr C, Sarah (BellaCoco) and her husband Anthony, I felt very lucky to be seeing in the new year this way and having shared my New Years kiss with the love of my life once again.
January then saw me start my new job doing what I love the most. I am now dubbed a ‘Communications Officer’ and could not be happier. I feel the law of attraction was most definitely on my side when I went for my interview for this role and I count my lucky stars every day that I am doing something I love and I appear to be good at too.
February had me and Mr C jet setting off to Barcelona to hop on a coach for my first ever skiing holiday to Andorra. I took a tumble on the first day and it set me back from the big slopes for the rest of the time we were there but for saying I hadn’t touched a set of skis for about 7 years, I wasn’t too bad. Another item ticked off the list.
March brought me the opportunity to visit one of my favourite chef’s restaurant and literally eat perfection on a plate. Ben reserved a table for us at Sat Bains as my Christmas present and wow didn’t he do good! I can only wish I could eat there every week. Not only did I get to experience THE best food, I even got to experience the kitchen and meet the man behind the magic, Mr Bains himself!
We also got a chance to get all dressed up for a charity gala dinner with Ben’s work in Brighton which was pretty fun. I mean, what’s not to love when there is free wine all night and an 80s tribute band playing all the best songs from Back to the Future?
And from one great chef to another; my good friend Hannah and I took a trip to the London for the day and treated ourselves to Afternoon Tea at Roux at the Landau. Impeccable food and service and well worth the money. Even the £18 cocktails we had in the bar were worth every penny! Sadly, we didn’t get to meet Michel Roux Jnr but there is always next time…
April gave me another opportunity to work with inTU Victoria Centre at their SS16 Fashion Shows which were super fun! I met a couple of new bloggers and got to spend the day with some familiar faces too. I made my first ever cocktail at Thaikhun which was an experience in itself.
May took us to hitting our 4 year anniversary mark, we hit the gym hard in readiness for our trip to Dubai where we enjoyed the Arabian sunshine and a trip up the Burj Khalifa where you go from 0-124 in 30 seconds… Floors in a lift that is!
June is my birth month and I am now officially a quarter of a century old, we celebrated in style at the Atlantis, The Palm returning to the UK the day after. We celebrated with friends and family and now we are just basking in happiness of what is to come. We have a couple more things on the radar to get over with first. We were then off to London to see Coldplay at Wembley – a very belated birthday present for Ben! Coldplay were absolutely incredible, it was an amazing performance and I can see why they are one of the top bands of our time.
Team all that with birthdays, blog events, meeting new people and making more memories , I feel so grateful about life at the moment and don’t think I have ever felt happier or more blessed right now.
25 feels good, although it now feels like the beginning. It’s like 20-24 have been life with training wheels on and now I am moving forward into real adulthood. I feel like this is where it all begins now.
So here is to the next 6 months being just as good, if not better than the first. The first challenge is choosing where in the world to go to next…
