HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! (apologies for the delay, I’ve been a poorly Sherry!)Wow, it’s 2016, the beginning of a brand new year. We are blessed with another 365 days on this beautiful planet. 8760 hours of freedom to grab life, take chances and live it to its fullest.
We all say it every year; New Year, New Me; take a look at yourself first. Does there really need to be a new you? What’s wrong with the old one? If you feel you need to make a change, make it one to be a better you that you already are. I’m a massive culprit of this. I have always set myself outlandish goals that always end up being unachieved because they just aren’t me. I didn’t like the ‘New Me‘ they were changing me into. I’d force myself to not enjoy the things I enjoy, wear crazy clothes to try and be different or stand out and I tried so hard to ‘do makeup‘ this year which again, just isn’t me. So this year, I’m going to focus on things I do enjoy and what I know my readers enjoy too and not be so strict about it. It appears that they all begin with F! (or I’ve made them all begin with F for the purpose of this post 😄)
Some of you may already know I start a new job soon which I am extremely excited about. Starting this blog has enabled me to land a job I’d only ever dreamt of. I want to get so stuck into my new role, own it and become a better writer for it both for my jobs sake but also for my blog. I want this to be the start of a very exciting writing career and work my absolute socks off to succeed in. I also want my blog to have more of a focus too, this will be reflected this year through food, travel and lifestyle posts. I may still provide a few beauty updates but my passion does not lie there unfortunately, my heart has never been in fashion posts either. This year, I want to work hard building up my blog with my loves in life.
Now, it’s difficult to focus if you are not in the right mindset and what better way to help achieve that than by upping my fitness game. No, I’m not one of those people that join a gym in January and cancel by March, I will admit my gym going days have ceased over December with the excuse of it being that it’s Christmas! I was brought a FitBit for Christmas which I want to utilise to help me get to and maintain a healthy weight, ensure my sleep is adequate and I drink enough water. On top of that I have downloaded the ‘Water Log‘ app to send me reminders to drink water throughout the day so I don’t forget. I’ll be tracking all my meals into ‘My Fitness Pal‘ to help with meal plans so I am getting the right amount of nutrients. I’ve even brought myself a skipping rope and a weighted hula hoop for those days where the gym is too much of a burden.
Seeing friends & family and making memories are a massive must for me this year. Since I started writing Sherry Scribbles, my social game and my confidence has grown ten fold which is such a big deal for me. I love get togethers, meals, coffee catch ups, events, taking photos, trying new things and there is nothing better than doing it with those you care about. I want to have something planned each month to look forward to and make even more new friends in the community.
My love for food has been reignited since starting this blog and I’ve been blessed with a number of opportunities to showcase my passion for food and cooking at home. This year, I want to create more recipes for my readers to try at home, eat at new places and recommend restaurants for you all. I really want to experiment with flavours, unique tastes and different styles of foods to create an amazing culinary experience for both myself and for you guys too.
It appears my fear of flying has disappeared and I want nothing more than to hop on an aeroplane and travel somewhere new. This year, there have already been talks in the household of travelling to two new places we have never been before and I cannot wait to get them booked and write my first proper travel journal to share with everyone about my jet setting adventures of 2016. I love visiting new countries, cities, islands …you name it and I plan on documenting my travels this year.
Most importantly, I want to have fun this year. I want to be carefree, worry less, make the best out of any given situation and just look at every 24 hours as a completely fresh day to make a change whilst enjoying myself and having a good time in this life I have been given.
Thank you for reading, I hope to see you back here whether it’s reading about an event, recipe or even about my newest adventures in a foreign land.
Lots of love!
