I’m a strong believer in ‘you get what you pay for’ and certainly when it comes to skin care. I’m stuck with this face for life so I may as well invest in it to keep it healthy and fresh for as long as possible.
If you have been with me from the start, you will know one of my favorites is the Lancôme Paris duo and to this day, that fact still remains however, there now appears to be some competition!
I was sent some products to review from Anubis Barcelona UK, a little skeptical as id not heard of them before and there is always a hint of worry when trying a new product in case of any reactions especially when it comes to the most visible area on the body.
I was asked questions about my skin type and if I felt I had any problem areas so they could assess which range would be most suitable and beneficial for me to try and that was that, not too long after I received a package containing their slightly clinical looking 200ml tube of Cleansing Cream (RRP £30.50), a 250ml spray bottle of Lotion Purificant Toner (RRP £26) & a 40ml pump action bottle of Balancing Serum (RRP £37.50) from the Regul Oil range along with a personalised note giving me a bit of background into the company and also informing me of the products that have been provided.
REGUL OIL is a sebo-regulating, balancing and purifying line of products that are recommended to manage oily skin and to fight acne. The PHYTO-TIOXOLONE synergy acts to normalize excessive sebum secretions and reduce microbial flora due to a complex made up of PHYTOCOMPOUNDS and TIOXOLONE. It control sebum production, calms, repairs and protects the skin against aggressions.
The packaging now made sense, using ingredients that react with the natural chemicals within our genetic make-up, the clinical look and feel of the products now look clean, fresh and natural. I must admit though, I was taken aback by the price of these items retailing almost £95 for the trio embedding a thought in my head that they are either extremely good or extremely overpriced.
That evening I decided to ditch my usual routine in exchange for a new one with my Anubis goodies. Following the instructions and applying the Cleansing Cream first, I am informed to spread a thin layer onto the face and neck, then lather with moistured fingers, then remove with water. It’s not like a cleansing cream I have ever used before, it’s soapy for a start but that fills me with confidence that it going to clean properly. It has a lovely scent to it too which could be down to the ingredients:
- Beer Yeast
- B Vitamins
Then using the Lotion Purificant Toner which is in a very handy spray bottle, I can simply vapourise directly onto the skin or onto a cotton pad and swipe across the skin that way. In all honesty, I like the fact I can spray directly onto the skin. For one, it wakes me up and I also think it alerts the skin and boosts the natural pigment. It certainly refreshes and revitalises straight away and doesn’t take too long to soak in either. Although it has the same ingredients as the Cleansing Cream it doesn’t hold the same fragrance but does smell fresh.
Finally I apply the Balancing Serum to reduce any excess shine without altering the hydrolipidic film, keeping the skin balanced and hydrated. Promising to regulate sebum production I am extremely eager to see the results. I feel I only need to use two pumps of the product to provide enough of an even spread across my skin. With two additional ingredients which I know are perfect for oily skin, I have a good feeling about the long term prospects of using this serum. You can certainly smell the Tea Tree coming though with the Camellia.
I know with most products I have used before there is a noticeable difference with regular use but after the first go with these my skin looked smooth and dewy and I was impressed.
I have been using these products for two weeks now twice daily (apart from the serum, three times weekly) and have seriously become attached to them. They make that much of a visible difference that when I saw my friend, Heather, she noticed immediately and mentioned that my skin looked radiant and glowy. Not to mention how smooth to the touch my face now feels, I always thought I had a smooth complexion before but now I’m questioning it.
I think I will get another month or so out of these products which means they will have lasted for around 6-7 weeks and have quite clearly worked wonders, however, I am wondering if I can afford near on £95 every other month to keep up with my new beauty regime which is worrying me slightly about what I’m going to do when it’s all gone! It is seriously good stuff and well worth the money, if you can afford to spend it.
