The Best Countdowns To Christmas 2015 | Advent Calendars
Now that Halloween and Bonfire Night are over for another year, it’s the time where I start to get festive and begin my mini countdown to 1st December when the true festivities start.
So, in preparation for 1st December 2015, I’ve been scouring the internet for some amazing advent calendars to get myself into the Christmas spirit. I have found some super cool countdowns for chocolate lovers, beauty addicts and some especially for the men in our lives which certainly wouldn’t go a miss in this household. I’ve featured 3 affordable luxury ones in each category along with 1 special find that would be worth the investment this year…
Calendars for Chocolate Lovers
We all know Lindt make some of the best chocolate around so they just had to feature in this post. With their super cute packaging and delicious taste, what’s not to love? They have a couple out each year which caters for those of us who prefer a chocolate reindeer over the cute teddy bear or the traditional Santa. Priced between £6 and £10 at most supermarkets or the Lindt website, although slightly more expensive than a Cadburys one, it’s a great mini luxury treat each night as you head towards that special day of the year.
More glorious chocolate behind a numbered door in Hotel Chocolat’s advent calendar this year making your evening cup of tea that extra bit special. Whether you enjoy dark, white or milk chocolate, they have something for you this Christmas and priced at only £12.50 too is an absolute steal!
Who doesn’t love a bit of Thornton’s chocolate at Christmas eh? What better way to get yourself ready for all those boxes you’ll receive from your grandparents than easing yourself in with an indulgent miniature from their continental collection with this beautiful calendar? At only £10 too and in the 3 for 2 offer, you can’t go wrong with this one.
25 award wining chocolates hidden inside drawers in a stunning, handcrafted bespoke wooden box. A gorgeous light grey colour detailed with silver and gold numbers and snowflakes. It would certainly be an investment at £100 but wouldn’t it look glorious amidst the other homely decorations each year, you can even recycle and add your own little treats inside when these delectable chocolates have been devoured.
As soon as I saw this online I fell in love. The packaging is just beautiful let alone the luxe trial size products from some of the Kerastase ranges hiding behind each of the shimmering golden doors waiting to give you a good hair day. Just think how amazing your hair would look on 25th December if you had this during the run up. Now, us ladies like to pay a bit extra to assist in the beauty area and this one would set you back a little shy of £80 but you could guarantee additional glamour in the Christmas dinner photos!
Products and pretty box aside, there is another major reason I am adding this box to my wishlist. The Body Shop have partnered with WaterAid this year to produce this fantastic, not to mention recyclable and stunning calendar, whereby each box that is sold, they can provide a family in Ethiopia with safe, clean water for a whole day. I cant think of a better reason to opt for a Body Shop calendar this Christmas. So for £60 you can help save peoples lives and make your pamper session feel even better knowing someone has safe water to drink and wash in because of you.
This brilliant calendar is SUCH good value for money in my opinion and is certainly up there in my overall top 3 to buy this year. With 12 trial size versions of some of their bestsellers and knowing how little product goes a long way, I cant stress enough about how much of a steal this is. At only £34.50 and featuring miniatures of the They’re Real mascara and The POREfessional primer, its a no brainer.
This is another calendar I think sits within the ‘good value for money‘ despite the larger price tag coming in at £95 but containing little treats from some of our favourite high end brands such as Lancome, Kiehls, Viktor & Rolf (one of my favs!) and YSL behind each one of their stunning starry night cosmic doors. Here’s to hoping Mr C is reading this *hint hint*…
Getting it right this Christmas and selling this brilliant advent calendar for the bearded gentleman this year is The Bearded Man Co, which houses a new scented oil throughout each day of December. That beard is gonna be so soft on Christmas day, it wont matter that he only brought you socks and the same old perfume again! Moderately priced at £29.99 its a sure fire way to your facially fuzzy man’s heart.
I think this one goes without saying… another great way to spend your evenings in the run up to Christmas watching rubbish on TV and the fire going strong, beer in one hand and pork pie in the other. Its not a cheap one though, this will set you back £95 but it will keep him quiet and out the way whilst you wrap up all the presents you brought for yourself for doing such a good job shopping! Here is to hoping Mr C got bored reading after the Selfridges calendar though…
Now, I’ve had a difficult time finding advent calendars specifically designed for men so this is my third and special find for this category. The Handpicked Company have created this clever little countdown to Christmas treating the door opener to 3cl of a different whiskey each evening (recommended! probably not a good idea to down one of these in the morning!) Going for £149.50 though, this is definitely for the men with a more sophisticated palette – I’d love to get this for my dad!
During my massive searching spree, I did come across some rather cute alternative advent calendars, some of which would be most welcome in my home. This adorable Yankee Candle Reindeer Carousel is such a lovely idea and what a nice way to introduce Christmas into the home by releasing a new festive scent each day. Each door presents a fragrant tealight for you to use and get into the spirit all for £31.99.
Another cute idea for the Christmas countdown is with this Nutcracker Charm Bracelet calendar. Certainly a winner for the little princesses in people lives and what a lovely memory to keep. An alternative to chocolate but a little more fun and exciting in my opinion. Its not far off some of the ‘luxury‘ chocolate calendar prices either at just £15.99.
There are also SO many different and unique DIY calendars available out there too, especially on etsy. A lovely and personal way to guide someone into Christmas by filling up a wooden tree with numbered drawers or little enveloped for each day of Advent containing their favourite things.
Have you seen any others that are on your wishlist this year?
