AW15 Fashion | intu Victoria Centre, Nottingham

On Friday 2nd October, intu Victoria Centre held a special event which I was invited to as a VIB (Very Important Blogger) along with Life In The Fashion Lanee to blog about the upcoming fashion trends for AW15. It gave brands such as Superdry, Next, John Lewis and House of Fraser a chance to showcase what they have in store for us this season – literally!

We were given a gorgeous tote bag designed specifically for intu by Celia Birtwell, which has since become my new gym bag and recieved a lot of compliments, it contained a bottle of water (certainly needed, I was working up a sweat trying to keep up with the models and the mirrors!), some gorgeous Thorntons honeycomb chocolate and a selfie stick! The perfect companion for a blogger.

Treated to front row seats with a clear view of the catwalk and the models, this provided us with a brilliant opportunity to take captivating shots of them wearing what’s on trend for this season, a combination of jewel tones, monochrome complimented with camel colours and printed fabrics oozing opulence

Up first, Superdry, showing off their colourful collection. A lot of denim, khaki and checkered patterns manoeuvred around the stage with sheer coolness. There is certainly something to suit everyone within the new range from an edgy black leather jacket and red tartan skirt to a light blue skinny jean and grey jumper ensemble completed with a brightly coloured puffer jacket and bobble hat.

Remove the pink and the skirt, the mens collection shows similarities with checks, denim, khaki and bright puffers. Perfect for couples who love to coordinate

After enjoying a glass (or 3!) of pink bubbly we were ready for the following show featuring John Lewis and the right way to wear monochrome this season.

Strutting down the runway in printed trousers and a gathered detail black top, along with a normally controversial mixture of patterns and textures working wonders together with a ruffled flower skirt and a stripy long sleeved blouse to the unusual effect of the black and white dress creating an optical illusion as the model owned the catwalk

The models providing effective movement throughout to show the versatility and comfortability of the clothing they were wearing.

Following the John Lewis collection, we were given the opportunity to speak to the Nottingham Post about our blogs and the stores in Nottingham and also have a quick fire Q&A with host and stylist, Jo Wilson. Looking ever so glamourous in a gorgeous sapphire blue jumpsuit from German brand Taifun and teamed with a pair of seductive nude suede heels from Zara, we found out her thoughts on the current seasons trends and shopping in Nottingham.

Jo says intu Nottingham is a fantastic centre and we have some great stores contained together in one place. There is plenty of department stores and it’s an amazing place to shop. Many of the brands here have couture copies inspired from the catwalks of Paris and Milan at a third of the price!

When speaking with her, you can see her eyes light up and hear the passion in her voice when she tells you how great it is to be able to put on fashion shows like this one as it’s all well and good seeing the clothes in a store on a hanger and thinking they are nice but when you can see it on a body, it really comes to life.

She describes this season as ‘bohemian glamour‘ mixing jewel greens and ruby reds, monochromes and berry shades and we will be seeing more glitz and glam make it’s way in as we move ever closer to Christmas Party season.

Jo’s Top Tips

  • She lives by the following quote and always follows it before she heads out.

before leaving the house, a lady should look in the mirror and remove one accessory. – Coco Chanel

  • Dress to suit your shape, if you have awesome legs, flaunt your legs, if you have an awesome waist, flaunt your waist. Wear items that flatter you and your body.
  • Underwear is the most important thing for an outfit. Your clothes sit on top so it needs to fit right. Did you know 80% of women wear the incorrect bra size? It’s a massive factor to what you put on over it.

Interesting Fact

  • She has helped Keith Lemon pick out a suit before!

Up next… Next! One of Jo’s favourite collections sees contemporary cool camel colours, super smart casualwear and statement pieces in all the right tones this season, such as the stunning teal dress and leopard print fur coat. Certainly an outfit that can be worn day to night with effortless style with fabrics and fits to swoon over.

Our final fashion treat was from House of Fraser, dazzling the audience with mens suits even James Bond would be jealous of and fantastic fabrics with pretty patterns for the ladies. Remaining on trend with monochrome but styled perfectly with loud prints.

The audience were absolutley captivated by the show and it certainly was a head turner, the use of the mirrors was a brilliant idea and provided viewers with a 360 view of the outfits on show. It was an incredible opportunity to have been a part of this event and I’m sure the crowds would agree with me it was a great success
I for one took on the advice I recieved from Jo and teamed it with some of the styles I’d seen before me and went shopping in the centre to create my perfect on trend Autumn / Winter 2015 wardrobe. I can’t wait to share it with you all!

What do you think about this seasons style? What’s your favourite piece from these collections? Mine HAS to be the teal dress, it’s absolutely stunning and just to die for. I absolutely love the printed trousers too!
